Frequently Asked Questions

Over the past several years, we have heard and answered hundreds of questions regarding hammocks. Here are a few of the most commonly asked; we hope these might help persuade youto purchase one of these heavenly havens.

Can I hang my hammock indoors?

Absolutely, but you must choose solid anchor points like a door or a window frame, strong studs or roof joists.  It is usually best to put your hanging hooks high in the corners of a room or into the ceiling joists.

Can I sleep in my hammock?

YES!!! Millions of people throughout the Americas sleep in hammocks every night. The secret is to find a comfortable angle diagonal or parallel to the anchor points.

Is the Mayan hammock stable?

Extremely. Because it has spreader bars, it has 1 less axis of rotation than a rope hammock and a lower center of gravity.

Which is better - nylon or cotton?

This is truly a matter of personal preference.  Cotton, being a natural fibre, tends to conform more to the contours of your body. We recommend you use it indoors or under a covered porch.

Nylon is more resistant to the elements and is usually used outdoors. It tends to give a firmer support than cotton.

While you’re in the shop, feel free to try both cotton and nylon hammocks. You’re sure to find your ideal hang-out!
